MARGARET HENDRY SCHOOL

Campus expansion project.

About The Project

Additional buildings for the Margaret Hendry School in Taylor, ACT. To facilitate the greatly increasing population in the area, new buildings were required at the school – and Aluform assisted from the get-go on this project, including supply of our proprietary stacking aluminium sliding door system.

The pared-back fit-out allows for creativity through the students’ expressions and artworks, and colour is used strategically to mark break-out spaces and collaborative areas.

Series 5000 Stacking Door System

Now a part of the EDIS blueprint for all ACT schools, Series 5000 Stacking Doors are a brilliant solution for educational spaces.

They are heavy-duty – each door can weigh up to 200kg and be 1200mm wide. This, combined with the ability to “stack” up to five panels, means a single system can span up to 6 metres! Full-glazed panels create a sound barrier whilst maintaining clear visibility, and bottom tracks finish flush with the floor to eliminate trip hazards.

In this project, stackers are used to separate large communal spaces into several smaller classrooms.

Hardware Scheduling

On such a large project, the door and hardware schedule can be a complete nightmare. That’s what we’re here for!

We take the schedule, cross-check it to make sure every door is functioning optimally and is assigned the correct hardware, then source and pack the hardware in door-by-door lots.

This process is a win-win: ensuring there is no excess material, eliminating any schedule errors early, and significantly reducing the amount of time spent on-site locating hardware, and working out which door needs what. This process saved our customer an incredible amount of time on this project.
