We service the commercial partitioning market with aluminium framed cavity sliding units to suit 64mm and 92mm stud. However, we have discontinued the manufacture of timber jamb, square-set and shadowline cavity sliding units.

No, Aluform does not provide prefabricated door and window frames.

Semi-solid MDF doors have an MDF frame with internal rail structure, making them lighter and more cost-effective for standard commercial office applications while maintaining a quality, solid feel. Solid core doors – whether LDF, blockboard, or particleboard – are denser throughout, offering better acoustic performance, greater durability, and are typically specified where higher Rw ratings or heavier use is expected. For most general office partitioning, semi-solid MDF is sufficient. For boardrooms, executive offices, or acoustic-sensitive spaces, a solid core door is recommended.

Yes. Aluform stocks semi-solid MDF doors pre-morticed at standard height (1050mm centre of tongue, or C.O.T.). This is the standard commercial mortice height and suits most commercial door hardware. Doors can be custom morticed to suit different mortices and heights.

Yes. Aluform offers an in-house door trimming and rebating service with a 24-hour turnaround. This includes trimming doors to non-standard heights or widths, and rebating door pairs. This service is available from our Canberra location.

Custom timber doors requiring machining – including morticing, base grooves, edge strips, door vent cut-outs, and glazed viewing panels – have a lead time of 10 working days. Timber veneer and laminate doors vary, dependent on face finish. Stocked doors are available for immediate dispatch, and door trimming and rebating has a 24-hour turnaround.

Yes. Aluform’s Seven Hills warehouse stocks some doors for the Sydney market, and custom doors (excluding veneer and laminate finishes) can be manufactured and delivered to Sydney in less than a week.

Aluform’s acoustic door set range covers Rw32, Rw34, Rw35, Rw36, Rw37, Rw39, and Rw41. Each rating has been lab tested, giving you reliable figures for project specification. For most commercial office environments, Rw36–Rw39 is the typical specification range. Rw41 sets are suited to boardrooms, counselling rooms, healthcare settings, or any space with heightened acoustic requirements.

Rw (Weighted Sound Reduction Index) is the lab-tested measure of how much airborne sound a door assembly reduces, measured in decibels. A higher Rw means more sound reduction.

As a general guide:

• Rw32–Rw35 suits standard office partitions and meeting rooms;
• Rw36–Rw39 is appropriate for executive offices, interview rooms, and most commercial acoustic requirements;
• Rw40–Rw41 is specified for boardrooms, healthcare consulting rooms, or spaces where confidentiality and speech privacy are critical.

Each acoustic door set includes the door leaf, aluminium frame, and a complete set of Raven sealing systems – perimeter seals and automatic door bottom seal – all required to achieve the specified Rw rating. Supplying the seals as a complete set removes the risk of under-specifying the seal system, which is the most common reason acoustic door assemblies fail to meet their rated performance on site.

The door leaf alone does not determine the acoustic rating – the seal system is equally critical. Gaps around an unsealed door can reduce acoustic performance dramatically regardless of the door’s core rating. Aluform’s acoustic door sets use Raven Products sealing systems, which are among the most widely specified acoustic seal brands in the Australian commercial fit-out industry. All sets are tested as a complete assembly.
