A multi-floor fit-out completed at 27 Scherger Drive for a government department.
A three-storey atrium at the front of the building creates a grand entrance, and allows natural light to flow through the space. Timber joinery and slat screens are enable separation of spaces while adding a feature, and areas are acoustically treated with ceiling-mounted baffles from Autex Acoustics.

Series 1000 Partition Suite
By far our most comphrensive, common and versatile suite, Series 1000 suits a 64mm stud & track profile with a 13mm plasterboard sheet each side.
The system is available with 25mm, 32mm and 50mm edge profiles, of which the 32mm profile was used on this project. Here, depending on the area, the frames alternated between front glaze and double glaze configurations: another versatile feature of this partition system.
Aluform supplied this framing system in Dulux Night Sky Satin power coat finish.
Autex Frontier Raft
The Autex Acoustics Frontier Raft system is an acoustic beam system fabricated from Cube™ base panel.
Supplied flat with grooves, the panels fold up and into an extrusion to create a hollow beam – in this case the Beam 100 profile was used. The extrusion is then used to fix or suspend the beams. End caps are slotted in to create a solid appearance, while being hollow.
This hollow nature provides an additional benefit – trapping air and creating extra space in which sound can be further absorbed. While this improves the acoustic performance of the beams, it is difficult to tie this information to a NRC or Rw rating or give a definite answer as to the level of improvement to acoustic comfort. This is because, with a decorative system such as this, the level of absorption is highly dependent on a number of other factors including room size and reverberation time.
The Frontier Raft is available in a variety of sizes and shapes, including rectangles and trapeziums. In this project, the Beam 100 was supplied in colours Flatiron and Opera, and was custom designed to be supplied in lengths that fit the architectural specifications perfectly.
Where required, the beams can be supplied with joiners to create a piece longer than 3600mm.
