About The Project

The head office of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority – a three-floor fit-out in Canberra’s heart.

Aero-inspired elements feature heavily throughout, including airplane-window-shaped glass panels in Aluform’s custom manufactured timber laminate doors. This fit-out also featured some unique ceiling elements, including BAUX wood wool tiles installed on exposed grid.

In-house Door Manufacturing

Aluform manufactured a series of custom timber doors for this project, with a Tasmanian Oak laminate finish. Some of these doors, like in the picture to the right, were full glazed by our team.

Our specialised machinery allows our team to turn around custom doors in very short lead times, and with a very high quality standard. This allows the doors to be made exactly to specifications. Additionally, doors can be pre-morticed and cut out to suit various types of hardware (including sliding door rollers), saving the contractors installation team many hours of intensive work on-site. The cut-outs done with our machinery are precise, minimising the risk of mistakes.

BAUX Wide Stripe Tiles

In a first for Aluform’s team, we supplied Swiss-made BAUX wood wool tiles in Wide Stripe, in a range of colours. These tiles were custom-made to be installed in exposed ceiling grid, and create feature ceilings in offices and break-out spaces. Installing in a grid also allows for easy maintenance in post, as panels are not fixed with glue and can be easily removed.

In addition to aesthetics, the tiles provide great acoustic ratings, and assist in the acoustic performance of the space as a whole.

Colour schemes also tie in with these tiles to direct occupants into spaces, with walls and furniture matching the feature ceilings.
